GOD HAS THE POWER TO KEEP US ETERNALLY SAFE
Jude 24-25 To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy — to the only God our Saviour be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and for evermore! Amen. (NIV)
Jude’s short letter was intended to strengthen believers who had been confused by false teaching and the threat of persecution. The concluding words were to reassure the believers that God has the power to keep His people in the truth for ever. God has a vested interest in keeping believers safe: they belong to Him (paid for by the blood of Jesus) and He intends to present them at His heavenly throne without any imperfection, with great joy.
It is totally safe to entrust our past, present and future to God. He is the Saviour God whose character and actions precipitate worship from angels and saints alike. His saving power is seen in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ which is effective for all time and all eternity to all people who trust in Him.
Despite false teaching, the wickedness around us and the threats from people who hate Jesus, God can and will keep us safe for all time and all eternity. He forgives our falls and teaches us how to avoid falling again. He has the authority to limit Satan’s wickedness and protect His people. He can already see the scene on the Final Day when you are welcomed into His presence without any imperfection and all heaven erupts in joy as the saving and keeping power of God in your life reaches its climax! So don’t give up, don’t be side-tracked and don’t be intimidated: God is keeping you safe.
Prayer: Father God. Thank You for keeping me safe as I trust in Jesus Christ. I am sorry for the times when I have not stayed on-track with You. Please give me fresh confidence to keep going in the truth looking forward to the Final Day entrance into Your presence. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
